Happy New Year! As you all know, the Mega Conference that was to be held at Kaziranga University was cancelled; and it is now upon us to hold a smaller 5th Conference. This will take place on Saturday 4th February 2017 at Jubilee Hall, YMCA Indian Students Hostel, 41 Fitzroy Square, W1T 6AQ, London, from 1pm to 5pm.
Lunch will be served at the beginning.
There will be also an hour-long meeting to elect a new Executive Committee. The topics for the conference are:
(a) "Sustainable Water Engineering: Where are we in Assam?" - Dr. Diganta B. Das, Senior Lecturer, Loughborough University
(b) "Assam Healthcare Co-operative - New Approach to Citizen Led Healthcare" - Dr. Jayanta B. Sarma, Consultant, Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
(c) "Revival of Rupsi Airport and its benefits"- Dr. Tarun K. Chowdhury, General Practitioner, Leicester (Rtd).
There are limited seats at this Hall, so please let me know asap whether you can make it. This is needed also for catering purposes. I am copying this email also to a few people who are interested or who usually attend our conference.
Jiten Borkakoti Chairman, AFGB.
I am sorry to inform you that we have, in agreement with Kaziranga University (KU), cancelled the proposed AFGB Conference at KU. This is because we have received two email threats originating from London. The first IP address has been tracked to Harlesden area of London NW10; and the second email to Ealing, London W3 6UW. The purpose obviously was to scupper the conference. It is now a Police matter. The emails came from somebody who knows our activities well who threw abusive insults, and pours pent-up bile and hatred specially on me. We are looking into the possibility if we can put together a conference in London at a relatively short notice. We will update you as soon as we are able to put together the event.
Best wishes, Jiten Borkakoti Chairman, Assam Forum GB
