Dear Members,
Happy New Year! As you all know, the Mega Conference that was to be held at Kaziranga University was cancelled; and it is now upon us to hold a smaller 5th Conference. This will take place on Saturday 4th February 2017 at Jubilee Hall, YMCA Indian Students Hostel, 41 Fitzroy Square, W1T 6AQ, London, from 1pm to 5pm.
Lunch will be served at the beginning.
There will be also an hour-long meeting to elect a new Executive Committee. The topics for the conference are:
(a) "Sustainable Water Engineering: Where are we in Assam?" - Dr. Diganta B. Das, Senior Lecturer, Loughborough University
(b) "Assam Healthcare Co-operative - New Approach to Citizen Led Healthcare" - Dr. Jayanta B. Sarma, Consultant, Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
(c) "Revival of Rupsi Airport and its benefits"- Dr. Tarun K. Chowdhury, General Practitioner, Leicester (Rtd).
There are limited seats at this Hall, so please let me know asap whether you can make it. This is needed also for catering purposes. I am copying this email also to a few people who are interested or who usually attend our conference.
Best wishes,
Jiten Borkakoti Chairman, AFGB.

Mission

We discuss the economic, social, political and cultural issues of Assam and submit suggested solutions to the concerned authority and raise awareness among the Assamese community and the wider population of the UK of the ongoing concerns in Assam. We hold an annual conference on the burning issues of Assam, and also organise seminars on specific issues from time to time. We invite expert opinions and facilitate the global Assamese diaspora to have a united voice on issues of importance.
